EVERETTZIP / GCFL
MISSION STATEMENT
Welcome to Everettzip website which has quickly became the home of the GCFL (Garden City Football League), founded in July 1993. This site is filled with stats & photos to entertain you even when I havent updated. This site isnt all about me it is about the GCFL and members thereof. So if you have any stories or ideas that "doesn't suck" & doesnt require alot of work from me, I will be more than happy to put it on here. everettzip@yahoo.com
Should I give you a drive by drive analysis? Probably not. They were all the same. Mostly all of them ended in a TD. They held us 3 times. We held them twice. Usually 6 people on a narrow field calls for a defensive game but not today. I'm not going to mention everyone. Only those that stick out in my mind for some reason or other.
EVERETT CROSS = Of course me because I'm writing the story. If you dont like it write your own story for me to post. I had a good game. I usually struggle playing QB in a 6 on 6 game and struggle throwing against Josh. Today I was un-phased by either. Yes Josh picked me off twice but being that only one of them was my fault, it didn't bother me. A 68% pass completion percentage is pretty good but it could have been higher. I had many of my good passes dropped. I did throw for over 500 yards today but so did Matt Floyd and despite the high numbers playing in the game there was little defense. Even though we lost I didn't embarass myself nor did I go home frustrated. We didn't lose because of me. We lost due to lack of defense.
MATT FLOYD = Played his first game back in a while, did well, and won. Floyd's pass completion percentage like mine was good at 68% but his also could have been better. He had flashes of struggling because I can think of about 4 grounders he threw at his receiver's feet that were uncatchable. He got lucky with two other grounders when Josh and Zach slid to the ground to make the reception. However our team's defense was too porous that these didn't matter.
ZACH DOLAN = Strangely enough went into this game not wanting to play QB. I was going to draft him on my team but when I was picking I forgot about him. Zach usually likes to run quick short routes which is my forte. However on their team he ran deep routes. Despite not playing QB he still logged in plenty of ball time. He led his team in yardage, TDS, and was a big reason why they won. Being that this is a new season also means he is the leading reciever so far this season haha. One of his TD receptions was the one mentioned earlier that he had to slide on his back half way across the end zone to catch with Shannon covering him.
Shannon: "I'm sure he scratched his back good with that reception. He is going to feel that one all week. It is what he gets for catching that on me."
JD BRYANT = I had the next pick when Adrian and his friends arrived next so I asked Adrian which of his friends was better. Adrian selected JD. However his skill had much to be desired. First when talking to him, he looked like he hit the pipe before the game started. His pupils were dilated, eyes were bloodshot, and he wasn't comprehending much of what I told him. Only one time did he run his route right which resulted in a 47 yard TD reception. Outside of that he only had 2 catches.
Everett: "I thought you said he was good."
Adrian: "I didn't really know but unlike Demetrious, he was prepared by wearing cleats."
Despite the many times I reiterated to him not to underestimate Amanda , he did and she lit him up for most of her 100 plus yard day. We demoted him and put him on the QB. JD complained that he wasn't getting the ball enough and complained about his defensive demotion the entire time because he wanted to play defensive back.
Everett: "Why? We put you on Amanda and she lit you up!"
Adrian: "Dude, you got to earn it."
Everett: "Ok you can cover Demetrious but if he beats you, then you go back to rushing the QB."
I compromised a little buy letting him play DB on Demetrius instead. He wasn't happy but he took it and shut up. He did much better on Demetrius than Amanda.
JOSH GRIFFIN = He picked me off twice. The first one was my fault and a bad pass. I was out of time & threw a pass to Adrian who was covered. It was thrown behind Adrian so Josh had an easy pick. The next pass was to Kasey who was wide open. With Matt Floyd standing a little to my left I had no periphrial view to what was going on over there. My mind was made, my arm was cocked, and I threw the ball about the same time Adrian and Josh come out of my blind spot that Matt Floyd had created. This put Josh in between Kasey and I for an easy pick. However used too Josh's defense would never allow a deep pass on him thrown by me. This week I got him twice with Adrian.
JESSE HALBERT = He has to love me today. I threw to him probably twice as much as I did anyone else. He had 14 receptions. Most of this was because he had either Demetrius or Amanda covering him so he was usually mismatched with a defender. My team was even telling me to feed him the ball.
AMANDA GRIFFIN = One can get a feel of her performance by reading my posts on everyone else. Why I'm mentioning her here is because of the conversation Matt, Shannon, Kasey, and I had about her after the game. We were talking about her like a bunch of dirty minded construction workers with sentences like
Matt: "**** ** **** ***** ****"
So filthy I had to edit the whole thing. Seriously, even though she was usually covering someone faster, or better than her, she never got burned. Even though there were many passes completed on her defense she bent but never broke. She got beat on one deep pass I threw to Jesse against her but somehow she jumped up just enough to knock the ball down and save the TD pass against her. She had 10 tackles and most of those were against players she wasn't covering. She managed to be all over the field on defense. She played above what was expected out of her. This is a perfect example of the stats not showing how well someone played. Had I let Chase pick this week, someone else's stats may have talked a little louder than hers. However Shannon, Kasey, Matt, and myself all agreed Amanda should be this week's MVP.

TUESDAY MAY 15 2012 Sundays game is posted. Whomever did last weeks game stats still hasnt turned them in yet. Additionally I never mentioned that Chase selected the MVP for week 15 and he picked Kyle Venetoff due to no receivers standing out and Kyles good passing performance. I told myself yesterday that I was going to work on the Season stats for season 38 and work on the all time stats. Instead I had this weeks game to do first.
HHFL (JIMMY QUINN LEAGUE) I have caught rumors that another football league has emerged identical to ours. You know Im not sure but I think their rule page looks like something I wrote. Awe, wasnt it nice of him to reword the introduction of the rules to be nice to everyone? How sweet. NOT! I think I should sue for copyright infringements http://hhfl.publishpath.com/
